How To

Step 1: Enter the title/keywords for the item that you are interested in.

Step 2: Review the result set and identify the title(s) that are of interest to you.

Step 3: For the title of your choice, click on “View availability”.

Step 4: Look under the “Status/Desc” column to establish the status of the item(s) available for this title.  If it shows “Available”, this means the item is not out on-loan.  You can proceed to the library to borrow the item.  If your library has enabled the reservation service, you may click on the “Place reservation” button to make a reservation for the item.

Step 5: If you have not logged into OPAC, you will be prompted to login using your credentials. Enter your Borrower ID and Password.  Tick on the “I’m not a robot” checkbox and click on the “Login” button to continue.

Step 6: Your reservation for the title will be shown for your confirmation.  Amend the details if required.  You may choose to enter a note for your librarian if needed, e.g. “Only interested in the paperback edition”.  Click on the “Continue” button and your reservation will be complete.

Step 7: You will be able to see your reservation under your “My accounts” page.

Step 8: When the title(s) that you reserved becomes available, you will be notified either by your librarian or via email on the pickup process.

If you are unable to find the item you are looking for in the local catalogue, you can place a request for an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) from another library. Some charges may apply for some requests.

To place an Interlibrary Loan request:

  1. Select Interlibrary Loan Request from the menu.
  2. If you are not currently logged on you will be prompted to log in.
  3. The Interlibrary Loan request form will be displayed. Please enter as much information as you can about the item you require. You must enter the title of the item.
  4. You will also need to enter a date after which the item is not required and the location from which you would like to pickup the item.
  5. A confirmation page will be displayed. This will indicate if there are any charges associated with your request. It will also give you the option to return to your request form, to cancel the request or to continue with your request.
  6. Select the Continue button to proceed with your request. Your request record will be displayed including the request number.

You will be advised by the Library when your item is ready to be picked up. You can also track the progress of your request or cancel your request by using the facilities in My account. Please refer to the section on cancelling reservations, bookings and requests in the Using My Library help page for details.

If you are unable to find the item you are looking for in the local catalogue and you think it would be appropriate for the Library to purchase the item for the local collection, you can place a request to ask the Library to consider the item for purchase.

To suggest an item for purchase:

  1. Select Suggest a Purchase form the menu.
  2. If you are not currently logged on you will be prompted to log in.
  3. The request form will be displayed. Please enter as much information as you can about the item you require. You must enter the title of the item.
  4. You will also need to enter a date after which the item is not required and the location from which you would like to pickup the item.
  5. A confirmation page will be displayed. This will indicate if there are any charges associated with your request. It will also give you the option to return to your request form, to cancel the request or to continue with your request.
  6. Select the Continue button to proceed with your request. Your request record will be displayed including the request number.
